Midlothian Football Season Information
Midlothian Football will begin our 2017 season with our first practice on July 31st. All players must have a completed 2017-18 physical form and concussion form before they can participate. There will be no cuts based on overall athletic/football ability. All players who try out will make the team. Players will be evaluated on the following which will determine playing time. Our goal is to make football an enjoyable sport while creating leaders in the community. No player is guaranteed playing time in games. With multiple positions on the team, position coaches/coordinators will determine if the player is ready to play in games from how they participate in practice.
Physical Conditioning - Must be able to safely handle the rigors of playing a fast, physical sport. Conditioning will be key to our success on the football field. Practices will include conditioning, sprints, plyometrics, and other drills to prepare our players for game situations.
Knowledge of Offensive/Defensive Schemes- Players must have a knowledge of what their job is on every play. Football is a team sport and all players must work together to reach our goals. Players must know the playbook and study their position on the team. All players have a position and roll on our team.
Understanding of technique of position - Technique is the foundation for becoming a football player. Players must be able to understand the teaching from coaches in practice to execute in games.
Ability to play the sport in a safe manner - Players must be able to play the sport in a safe manner or injury could occur. Tackling, blocking, and effort need to be executed correctly for players to play the game safely.

Open to all Midlothian High School Students
They will continue every Monday, Wednesday,Thursday Through July
Except the week of July 3-7 -Dead Period/No Activities
Please bring cleats, tennis shoes, & water
First day of football practice is July 31st at 7:00am
The following two forms must be completed and turned in prior to a student being able to participate in workouts.
(1) A signed VHSL Athletic Participation/Parental Consent/Physical examination Form is required for each school year. Valid physicals run from May 1 of the current year through June 30 of the succeeding year.
(2) A signed Parent/Athlete Concussion Information Sheet
